THE group behind plans to renovate The Haining house have cancelled an event due to take place on the same day as Scott’s Selkirk.
The Haining Charitable Trust had planned to open the house, bequeathed to the people of Selkirkshire by the late Andrew Nimmo-Smith, on December 1, as well as sell mulled wine and Christmas pies.
But Susan Edington of the trust said: “We have decided not to open the house on the day because we feel it may pull people away from the town centre, which defeats the purpose of the Scott’s Selkirk.”
