THE Teviothead Trekkers raised over £6,500 for charity when they walked the West Highland Way in the summer.
The group of 10 friends announced the final total this week. The money will be split between Motor Neurone Disease and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Hiker Caroline Tullie said: “Everyone has been so kind and generous. We all had such a wonderful week, took in beautiful scenery and had a lot of fun along the 96 miles but knowing we raised so much really is fantastic.
“There will still be gift aid to be reclaimed on top of some of those donations too.
“A huge thank you to everyone. Ronnie and Julia Templeman for their planning and organisation, and John Tullie for the back up and transport. We were also joined for part of the week by Will Roberts who also helped out with transport.”
The walkers included Ronnie, Julia and Katie Templeman, Sam Blyth, Donald and Sandra Knox, Pat Douglas, Gill Francombe, Fenella Pow and Caroline Tullie, pictured below.
